In Decrypto two teams compete, each trying to crack the opponents’ code correctly while communicating among themselves without their own code being read.

Each team has a screen with slots marked 1 to 4, into which cards with secret words are inserted. A round goes like this: one team member takes a code card with three of the numbers from 1 to 4 in random order, e.g. 3-4-1. They then try to give their teammates a code that enables them to guess the three numbers by linking them to the words on their screen. If they guess correctly, all is well and the team gets a success token. If not, they get a failure token. If the team gets two failure tokens, it loses the game. From the second round on, however, it gets harder, because now the opposing team may also try to intercept the code from the hints that are given. If they can, they get a success token. The first team to get two successes wins.

Decrypto is a good game for anyone who likes Codenames and wants something new.
