Emerald Echoes is a narrative puzzle adventure with beautifully illustrated puzzles and tactile artefacts. Through the eyes of a historical researcher, the players uncover the story of a legendary alchemist and her companions. Emerald Echoes is a standalone sequel to The Emerald Flame and is told over four chapters. Each chapter has a collection of unmarked objects together with a number of green puzzle folders, numbered in the order in which they are to be solved (1.1, 1.2, 1.3 etc.)

There are thirteen puzzle folders in all. There are also some blue folders that contain no puzzles but should be opened as part of the same numerical order to reveal more pieces of the story. Each green folder contains at least one written document to be examined the document is the starting point for working out which objects are needed to solve the puzzle. Each puzzle folder also has a pocket with a card marked “Analysis”, with step-by-step hints and the solution to each puzzle.
