Puerto Rico is the classic trading and resource game, set on the Caribbean island of Puerto Rico. As local governors, the players compete to establish the most profitable plantations and sell sugar, cocoa, coffee etc. to Europe.

Each player has their own board, where they construct new buildings, hire colonists to work on the plantations and get the harvest of the valuable crops under way.

Puerto Rico sits at the heavier end of the complexity scale and there is very little luck in the game, which means the little grey cells have to work overtime to be successful.

The game was released in 2002 and has had a great influence on modern board game design. Its qualities are also underlined by the fact that it still sells very well.
