Agricola: Family edition (Danish)

Family-friendly edition of the classic board game Agricola.

In Agricola Family you and your fellow players are farmers in the 17th century. Everyone starts out with a small wooden hut and a piece of land, and from there must build up a well-run farm.

Get life as a farmer going by extending and renovating the house, sowing new crops, bringing in the harvest and building enclosures for all the farm’s animals. At the beginning of the game there is only you and your spouse on the farm, so you have just 2 meeples to work with when taking your actions. It is possible to grow the family, but be careful: at harvest time there must be enough food for yourself and your family.

The game runs over 14 rounds in 6 stages, each ending in a harvest (after rounds 4, 7, 9, 11, 13 and 14), when it is important to have enough resources to feed your family. Each round more actions become available, widening your options. Each action can only be taken by one player per round, so the order of your actions has to be chosen tactically, before your opponents get there first. The winner of the game is the player who has had the most profitable season in the end and so earned the most points.

Agricola Family is more streamlined and easier to grasp than the original Agricola base game and is clearly recommended. If played with children, it is best suited to those who already have experience with strategy games. In that case it is a great pleasure for children and adults alike.
