Catan 2015: Explorers & Pirates (English)

In the fourth expansion for the classic Catan board game (also known as Settlers or Settlers of Catan) the players put to sea again. This time no fewer than three islands are to be colonised.

The players start on one of the islands, and which terrain tiles lie on the other two islands is unknown at the start of the game. The players have to build ships and sail out to the islands to explore.

The expansion also introduces gold, which is given to players who receive no resources when the dice are rolled. The gold can be exchanged for resources, but it is also needed against the pirates when they attack.

As with the other Catan expansions, the set comes with a number of scenarios and missions that change the victory conditions and strategies from game to game.

Note: The English edition of Catan has wooden pieces and larger cards than the Danish one, so it only works with other English expansions. In addition, the 2015 edition has thicker terrain tiles, which fit the 2015 base game best.
