Coup: Deluxe Edition

Coup is a pure bluffing game.

The game contains 3×5 role cards, and each player starts with two of these and two coins. The role cards also serve as the players’ influence. A player who has lost their roles, and thereby their influence, is out of the round.

On your turn you can either take coins, use a role card, each of which has different abilities, or spend 7 of your coins to remove a role card from one of your opponents.

The rules are therefore extremely simple. The game becomes interesting when the abilities of the roles come into play, because you can use any of the five roles whether you hold the card or not. It is just a question of whether your opponents believe what you say. A player who is exposed loses a role card and thereby 1 influence.

Each round of Coup lasts a maximum of 15 minutes, so there is plenty of opportunity to play many games in the course of an evening.

This edition contains special artwork and the expansion Coup: Reformation, which heightens the tension in the game by adding factions and groupings.
