Hive Magnetic

This hive is a small set of magnetic pieces – so Hive can be played on the fridge or another metal surface.

Hive is a strategy game for two players that is not restricted by a board and can be played anywhere on any flat surface. The Hive base game consists of twenty-two pieces, eleven black and eleven white, resembling different creatures, each with a unique way of moving. Hive Pocket includes the Mosquito and Ladybug expansions, giving 26 pieces in total.

As there is no set-up, the game begins when the first piece is laid down. As the following pieces are laid, they form a pattern that becomes the playing surface. (The pieces themselves become the board.) Unlike other similar games, the pieces are never eliminated, and not all of them have to be played. The aim of the game is to completely surround the opponent’s queen while trying to block the opponent from doing the same to your queen. The first player to completely surround the opponent’s queen wins the game.
