The starting point of a classic Dungeons & Dragons adventure is almost always the same: a group of adventurers get wind of a perilous journey and then set out to complete a mission.

Lords of Waterdeep turns this formula on its head and places the players in the city of Waterdeep as influential figures who need adventurers to complete a series of missions that can make them even more powerful.

Lords of Waterdeep is a classic resource game, but with a fantasy theme. Instead of silk, grain, stone or wood, the players compete for thieves, warriors, priests and wizards. Each player starts with some missions that require a specific combination of different adventurers. During the game it is possible to gain more missions, construct new buildings and use underhand tricks in the form of intrigue cards. Each mission gives a number of points when completed, and the player with the most points at the end of the game has won.
