Mascarade

Mascarade is a bluffing and deduction game par excellence.

The aim of Mascarade is to be the first player to hold 13 gold coins. Every player starts with 6 gold coins and is also dealt a role card that is hidden from the other players. Once the players have looked at their own role card, they place it face down on the table and may not look at it again.

Play goes clockwise, and on their turn a player can do one of the following three things:

1. Announce which role you have and carry out its function. The game contains 13 different role cards, each with its own ability. The abilities are typically used to get more gold by stealing from the others, taking from the bank and the like.
2. Swap roles. The player takes one opponent’s role card and their own below the table and, WITHOUT looking at the cards, decides whether to swap them or leave them as they were.
3. Look at a role card. A player who has no idea which role is lying on the table may look at their own role card and then put it back down. The player may not do anything else that turn, however.

Mascarade is an incredibly simple game full of bluffing, deduction, interaction and chaos.
