Ogre Sandwich

Take the right ingredients and build the tallest sandwich. Score points for sets of toppings, for critters and for the tallest sandwich. The chef with the most points wins. Be careful: points are lost for ingredients that fall off the sandwich.

You are an Ogre chef competing against other Ogre chefs to impress the Ogre King with your culinary skills. Collect ingredients and stack them on your sandwich to make the tastiest meal in the swamp. At the end you must carefully present your sandwich to the Ogre King. The Ogre King demands a flawless sandwich and will only eat the tastiest serving … May the best Ogre chef win.

What the players do: Roll two dice. The first die is a mandatory action: take an ingredient of the type shown from the supply and place it on your sandwich. The second die is an optional bonus action that lets you grab additional ingredients, place additional ingredients, steal ingredients or force another chef to remove an ingredient from their sandwich.

Game mechanics: There are a few rules for placing ingredients. Chefs may only use two fingers when placing an ingredient on their sandwich. Critters must be placed standing up. Lettuce and cheese must be placed on top of critters on your sandwich when you place them. Once you have placed a cheese or a lettuce, all future critters must go on top of the top layer of your sandwich; no critters may be placed underneath.

If a critter topples over, you may pick it up once and try to place it again. If you topple or knock anything else off your sandwich during this second attempt, follow the rules for a toppled or knocked-off ingredient.

If a critter is toppled but stays on the sandwich, it does not count towards your set of critters at the end, but it is still worth 1 point.

If a critter or an ingredient is knocked off the sandwich, meaning that it touches the table in any way, you must remove it and all ingredients on top of it from your sandwich. These ingredients are removed from the game.

The game comes with two modes: Standard game: ages 8+ and Basic game: 5+.
