Splendor is a family game that won an incredible number of awards during 2014.

In Splendor the players are Renaissance merchants. As a merchant you are after the finest and most valuable gems, rubies and diamonds in order to impress the nobles.

On your turn you can take one of the following actions:

  • Collect gems
  • Use your gems to buy a development card
  • Reserve a development card.

Development cards give a permanent discount on buying new cards, so that more expensive cards can be bought later on. In this way the game escalates, because the discounts grow every time a new card is bought.

Splendor is an incredibly simple family game, yet it offers plenty of interesting decisions and different strategies.
