Welcome To (English)

In Welcome To… you are an architect who wants to build the best new suburb in 1950s USA, complete with pools, parks and plenty of jobs.

Equipped with a pen, each player gets a sheet of paper showing three rows of houses full of suburban idyll. Your job is now to make your town score more points than your opponents’ towns. Three piles of cards are placed on the table, with numbers on one side and actions you can choose to carry out on the other. The numbers are written on the houses in your town, and the actions let you, for example, add a pool, build parks or put up fences between the plots.

Because everyone chooses from the same cards in each round, Welcome to… has very little waiting time, and the completely random order of the cards means that no two games will ever be the same. There are a great many different paths to victory, but one thing is certain: you cannot make everything work out, so it takes careful planning to become the best suburban architect in the USA.

Welcome to … is one of the very best games in the so-called roll’n’write genre, where you “draw strategically”, and an excellent all-round game that is incredibly addictive.
