All Night Breakfast at The Midnight Owl is a solo role-playing game in which you are the creator and host of a podcast about paranormal investigations. You have recently left your home and moved to a sleepy, isolated town to investigate a series of strange incidents, hoping to find content for your podcast.

Your adventures unfold by visiting locations in and around the town, collecting clues and evidence, and keeping a journal. Optional podcast and map creation elements are also available if you want to dive deeper into the world they create in the game.

The narrative involves themes such as the supernatural, secrets and lies, and how it feels to be an outsider in a close-knit community. The setting is inspired by the Pacific Northwest of the USA, but can be adapted to take place in any part of the world. The overall mood is reminiscent of series such as Twin Peaks, The X-Files and True Detective, although it does not assume you are familiar with them.

If you have never played a journaling game before, it is worth noting that there is no right or wrong way to tell your story. It can be as simple as bullet points on a sheet of paper, longer prose with sketches, or something in between. You can also use digital apps to write down your story. The main aim of this game is to inspire you to be creative.
