Our Vacation RPG

Our Vacation is a “geostationary” game that stays in one place over time and can have any number of players. Players sit down with the book, cut, tape and write for as long as they like, whether that is one minute or fifteen, and then move on.

This game is ideal for a situation where you share a space with housemates or family. You need scissors, tape or glue and marker pens. It is best played from the printed book, but a printed PDF would also work.

Players take a ‘found’ photo album and immerse themselves in it, creating the story of a couple on holiday. Each page is edged with words taken from “Great American road novels”; these are cut out and paired with the mundane pictures in the book. Once three prompts have been taped to a photo, another player can write a memory of that photo in the space available, using the prompts to guide their creativity.

The game can take days, weeks or months.
